General Orders No. 9 is an experimental documentary which premiered at the Atlanta Film Festival in 2009 and went on to win several awards, including Best Cinematography at Slamdance. An epic meditation on the American South, the film was reconfigured for the Window Project’s unique format. The film’s director, Robert Persons, was intrigued by the opportunity to present the film in a multichannel format and said it more closely reflected his intention “to create a present-day mandala” that told the story of loss and change in the South.
